Most marketers answer diplomatically when a client asks how much they should spend on SEO or PPC never do this!
While in an onboarding ask a few questions to them and then I recommend a custom strategy with a budget and expected results.
Few questions I would like to ask the client:
- How many leads or conversions are they expecting?
- What is their long-term and short-term goal?
- Do they want to do Digital Marketing just for testing a Beta Version?
- I review their yearly conversion projection & how they are performing now against the target.
- I also review their analytics data if available.
Based on their answers, I recommend the marketing channel and give them a budget.
Here are some scenarios
If the client is marketing for the first time and is unsure about a long-term plan, I recommend Google Ads. Keep a Budget to get at least 1000 users on the landing page, so that testing can yield enough data.
If the client wants to get Maximum leads quickly, I recommend Google Ads. The Budget is decided based on the target lead number
If the client has the budget then I recommend doing both SEO and PPC.
When pitching digital marketing proposals to clients, it’s important to avoid common mistakes that can harm your chances of success.
Some of these mistakes include not understanding the client’s business and goals, not conducting proper research, making unrealistic promises, and not tailoring the proposal to the client’s needs.
By avoiding these mistakes and taking the time to thoroughly understand your client’s needs and goals, you can increase your chances of winning the project and delivering successful results.
Some questions you may want to ask during the onboarding process include:
- What are your business goals and how does this digital marketing project fit into those goals?
- Who is your target audience and what are their demographics?
- What are your long-term and short-term goals according to how you modify your answers?
- What is your budget for this project, and are there any specific constraints or limitations we need to be aware of?
- What are your timelines for this project, and when do you expect to see results?
By understanding the client’s needs and expectations upfront, you can tailor your digital marketing strategy and approach to best meet their goals and deliver successful results. Additionally, clear communication and setting expectations upfront can help to build trust and establish a positive working relationship with the client.
